A recent trend has popped up online where almost everyone and their mama are selling "Vendor Lists." Items can be clothes, shoes, hair, chairs and even the kitchen sink - which is cool. But, there are 3 important things to consider when spending your hard-earned dough on these lists. 

1. Does the seller have a relationship with the vendors?

A vendor list "seller," will have at minimum conducted business with the vendor and approved of their inventory quality before adding them to a list for sale. Too often, people are so busy trying to find the next dollar that they'll practically sell any contact info, without having done thorough research, much less asked for the vendor's price list. 

Listen, do NOT fall into the trap of desperately buying from anyone, even if it appears that the "Vendor list," is cheap. You may end up shelling out money to a  shady supplier, so be sure to inquire  if the Vendor list seller has a relationship with the vendors and don't be shy to ask for proof too!

2. Does the vendor have a MOQ?

To gain profit, most vendors will apply a MOQ requirement on their buyers, which means there is a Minimum Order Quantity that any and every customer MUST purchase in order to transact with the vendor. Depending on the item being sold, vendors will indicate a MOQ of 10, or even 100. Some may have lower MOQs. However, some suppliers will not have any Minimum Order Quantity applied and therefore, you've got more flexibility to test out 1 product before committing to buy more. 

3. What's your profit margin?

Realistically, when you're seeking high quality products, your vendor may charge you more money for them, so please bare this in mind when ordering vendor lists. It's the difference between a Genuine Leather item and patent leather. In general, a decent profit margin for quality goods is in the realm of 15 -25%. There are those rare instances with vendors, that you'll be able to make as much as 50-75% profit margin , but again, if you're talking about QUALITY goods for wholesale prices compared against the suggested retail market value, you're look at a 25% profit per item sold. Once you start getting into the $500 profit margins on an item you spent $10 on, chances are - it's fake!
